It’s with very heavy hearts we announce the passing of Elizabeth Anne (Betty) Gould, 60, We’koqma’q. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, William "Billy" Roache, Mother-in-law, Wanitta Roache;  Betty’s parents, Noel J Gould and Mary Pauline Gould (Paul); siblings, Doris, Anne and Clarance (Magee), godson/Nephew Athanasius (Sishy).

Betty leaves behind her three children, Joseph "Joey", Sean and Elizabeth (Betty) Roache; father-in-law, Charles Roache, Lower  Sackville, NS; sister-in-law, Danette Pyle, AB.  Siblings, Terrance (Rara) Gould, Lori-Anne LeRoy (Sajjad), Kari (Audie) Patles and Norma Gould.  Loved by all her nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, all her cousins and friends.

Born in Boston, Mass. USA, Betty came to Canada and was raised in We’koqma’q, NS. She made friends easily being such a beautiful soul.  She met her husband Billy while working at Dalhousie University.  They married and settled in Lower Sackville, NS.   After moving back to We’koqma’q, Betty served the We’koqma’q Band in various job positions during her 25+ years of employment.

Betty has kept very close contact with her childhood friends and they share many years of memorable experiences together.

Everyone that has meet, worked and shared experiences with Betty have noted how she influenced their lives and what a beautiful person she was inside and out. Family and friends will always remember her and their friendship forever.  She has touched many hearts unintentionally with her determination and strength to battle this long journey of cancer.  From the beginning to the end she was a true warrior and a great person.

Betty’s children would like to thank all those that have helped her through this difficult journey of cancer and during her final moments. Especially her favourite nurse Barb Brown and Liam, Ashley, Kim, Kate ( ICMH), and the Palliative Care Unit (ICMH). Her family Doctor Monique LaFrance and all other doctors and nurses that have assisted with her health care over the years.  Thanks also to her oncology team and the We’koqma’q clinic nurses and staff.
