July 22, 1938 – January 10, 2022

Parker, Joseph "Joe" Henry – Canso, Guysborough Co., age 83 years. The family of the late Joseph "Joe" Parker Sr. wishes to announce his passing on Monday, January 10, 2022 in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Joe was born in Canso; a son of the late Robert Gabriel and Florence Genevieve Gerloch (Fanning) Parker, both of whom were from Canso.

In Joe’s younger days he worked in Ontario in a factory. He spent many years with the Canadian Coast Guard; from there he took up inshore fishing. After that he sailed on the trawlers and then went to Mersey Seafoods and sailed on the Venture until he retired in his seventies. He was a dedicated member of the Canso Loins Club and loved the card plays. He dearly loved spending time with his little Dolly and the rest of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joe loved his gardening, his mackerel fishing and of course his wood pile. He was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Stella (Casey), Yellow Marsh; son, Joseph (Deanna), Yellow Marsh; daughters, Mary (John), Yellow Marsh; Patricia (Dwayne), Ottawa, ON; grandchildren, Joeigh, Halifax; Alicia (Brooke), Canso; Zachary (Robyn), D’escousse; Shawn (Sloane) and Jeff (Sadie) all of Ottawa, ON;  great-grandchildren, Brooke, Canso; Novalee, D’escousse; Liam, Jeremy and Ava  all of Ottawa, ON; sisters, Anita (Raymond), Hamilton, ON; Carolyn (Bill), Truro; brothers,  Don (Lilly), Hamilton, ON; Patrick (Leah), NB; George, Yellow Marsh; Gerry (Jelly) and Perry (Marg), Brian (Carol) all of Canso; sister-in-law, Anna, Canso. Many nieces and nephews who all loved him very much. Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his daughter who died at birth, Diane Marie; brothers, Robert "Turk"; Hughie and Terry, and by his canine buddy, Sage.

Special thanks to Eastern Memorial Hospital for the excellent care they gave him while he was in hospital and Dr. Dobek for the special care he gave.
