Sylvia Eileen Conrad

CONRAD, Sylvia Eileen Age 85 of Beaver Bank formerly of Whitehead, Guysborough Co. Born Thursday, Nov.22, 1934 and died peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 with all her family by her side at her granddaughter Crystal’s home in Beaver Bank where she lived for her last two months.

She will be greatly missed. Widow of the late Robert L. Conrad. Born in Guysborough Co. of the late Purvis and Lillian (Cook) George and lived nearly all her life in Lower Whitehead. She attended Mount Saint Bernard, Normal College and St. FX where she received her B.A., B.Ed. and M.A. She was a former teacher and guidance counselor.

During her lifetime she was active in the Royal Canadian Legion, Grace United Church, Home & School and most community organizations. She is survived by her son, Harold (Marjorie) Conrad; grandchildren, Crystal Conrad-Durnford, Luke (Caroyln) Conrad; great-grand-children, Brittany, Candace and Gordon Durnford; Sadie and Gavin Conrad all from Beaver Bank. She was survived by her brother, Carl George, BC and NS; and Cynthia (Jim) Coughlin, Ont. She was predeceased by her brothers, Harold and Donald George and sister, Goldie Bass.

Cremation has taken place. Service and Interment will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 1st in Whitehead Cemetery, Lower Whitehead with Rev. Heather Manuel officiating. (If it rains it will be held inside the hall) and reception to follow at 12 p.m. in Whitehead Community Center Hall, 626 Whitehead Road. Donations may be made in memory of Sylvia to the Whitehaven Community Association.
