Marion Teresa Phalen
Phalen, Marion Teresa - Age 80 of Toronto passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in Sunnybrook Hospital. Born in Lesterdale, Guysborough Co, Nova Scotia on March 15, 1937 she was the eldest daughter of the late James and Marguerite (Shea) Phalen.
Marion graduated from Guysborough academy in 1954 and joined the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) in Antigonish and transferred to Toronto from where she retired after 39 years of service. Marion was a member of St. Monica’s Parish Toronto for many years. Marion looked forward to spending her summers in Guysborough with family and friends where she enjoyed walking around her Island.
She is survived by her sister, Maureen (Maurice) Landry, Riverside; nephew with which she shared a special bond, Philip James Landry (Katelyn Boudreau), Halifax; uncle, Jackie (Marion) Shea, Lesterdale. She will be especially missed by her extended family the Sceeles, who adopted her as their own as well as her long time friend Peggy McKee and many friends in Toronto and Nova Scotia. She was predeceased by her brother, James and sister-in-law Elizabeth.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 3-5p.m. on Thursday, December 07, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 08, in St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough with Father Callitus Albazie officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Marion’s memory to St. Ann’s Cemetery Fund or the Guysborough Food Bank.
